A Few Spring Cleaning Reminders for Homeowners

There is something about the first warm days of spring that makes me want to open every window and start cleaning.

After a long Omaha winter, our homes could probably use it too.

Spring cleaning does not have to mean spending an entire weekend cleaning every corner of your house. Sometimes it is just about taking care of the little things we tend to forget.

Change or clean your furnace filter.

Take a look at your gutters and downspouts.

Check around windows and doors for any signs of moisture.

Test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

Walk around the outside of your home and look for anything that may have changed over the winter.

And do not forget the little things inside. Clean those windows, change the batteries in anything that needs them and take a look at those closets that somehow became storage areas over the winter.

If you are thinking about selling your home this year, spring is also a good time to start looking at the bigger picture.

Walk through your home as though you were seeing it for the first time.

What catches your eye?

What needs a little attention?

What would make the house feel brighter and more welcoming?

You do not have to do everything at once.

A little work now can make a big difference later.
